He was insistent that transforming from a manufacturing-based economy to that of a service-based one was good for everyone. My mom wouldn't let him get away with this and argued that it would do nothing but hurt the American worker and ultimately lower everyone's standard of living.

How is it that a woman in her early 40s, who never attended a college class in her entire life, understood the economic consequences of this, yet our so-called leaders in government still haven't figured it out? (Hint: They did figure it out, but chose to serve, and align themselves with, multinational corporations instead of the people they were elected by.)

Yes, I totally agree with you. With the trend in obesity rates in this country, investing in companies that make clothing with "expandable" waists should be a windfall. ;-)Jefferson's Guardianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16950868026721859555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6942096640368435333.post-7354735287567496722010-08-12T16:37:32.508-04:002010-08-12T16:37:32.508-04:00Oops, that should be "expendable"!

I've been pondering this very topic.
I am sure that the pwt have no intentions of restoring our employment base and curtailing the lucrativeness of off-shoring. If they wanted to do this they would be hard at work on it now, or have already done it. But they have absolutely no intention of doing so - because it's working out just fine for the ultra-rich.
Most of us have become completely expandable.Citizen Sanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10502416367434226282noreply@blogger.com
